Listen to the 2RDJ candidate interviews with Neil Lithgow, on 12th March 2019 for the Drummoyne campaign, and on 2nd May 2019 for the Reid campaign.

Charles Jago is standing as the Greens candidate in both the NSW and the federal elections. He is the Greens candidate in the NSW electorate of Drummoyne and the federal electorate of Reid.

Charles Jago is a councillor and Deputy Mayor of Canada Bay Council. He lives in Concord West. His professional background includes experience in information technology, community development, the electricity industry and as an adult educator.

Charles says, “I’m standing because the federal and NSW governments have been paralysed on climate and energy policy. Reducing carbon emissions and developing renewable energy sources will lower electricity prices and create employment.”

The state election will be held on 23 March 2019. The federal election is on 18th May 2019.

Our flyer gives an overview of some major issues in the campaign. See a copy of one of our new advertisements for the federal election (note: different advertisements produced at different sizes may vary).

The Greens provide an alternative voice to that of the major parties. “Australians want change in their political landscape, but the major parties are not responding. The public want a government which has vision and policies which meet our country’s needs into the future. Key issues in the coming elections include climate and energy, the economy, housing, transport, state government control of local government and planning, health, education, refugees, plus government transparency and accountability.

The Greens key concerns include:

  • Resist state government plans for overdevelopment, and improve infrastructure
  • Provide better public transport
  • Address climate change by phasing out coal and expanding renewables
  • More affordable housing for low income families
  • Ensure large corporations and the wealthy pay their fair share of tax
  • Close offshore detention centres and ensure safe pathways for asylum seekers. It is legal to seek asylum. These people have not committed a crime but have been locked up for years.
