Jacqui was born in England and came to Australia as a young adult.  She is married with three daughters.

Jacqui trained as a TAFE teacher when she arrived in Australia and worked in country TAFE colleges before moving with her family to the Inner West. Jacqui worked as a teacher of ESL before focussing on supporting her children through the HSC and her husband in his engineering consultancy.

Jacqui is a member of the Canada Bay Greens and passionate about the environmental and social values espoused by the Greens and the integrity with which the Greens approach local issues.  Jacqui is an enthusiastic coxswain for the Ancient Mariners, rowing out of Drummoyne Rowing Club, and a regular volunteer for Rowing NSW at regattas around the state.

I was born in Queensland in 1954 and moved to Sydney in 1984. I have participated in Greens politics since the 1990’s.

I was Greens candidate for Reid (Federal seat) in 2001 and Auburn (State seat) in 2003, mainly in opposition to the Clyde Waste Transfer dump.

My interest in history resulted in a dedication, at Drummoyne Wharf, to forgotten Australian air pioneer and local war hero, Guy Menzies.

I am committed to the four principles of The Greens: ecologically sustainable development, grass roots democracy, social justice and world peace.

My view of local politics is that it needs more independent voices to counter the monopoly of the two major parties. I urge voters to elect Greens candidates for a principled voice.

Jan Finkelstein was born in Perth, Western Australia. She trained as a school teacher at Mt Lawley Teachers’ College, WA and then travelled widely in Europe, North Africa and Asia.  She lived and worked in London between her travels.

Upon her return to Australia in 1985, she settled in Concord West.  She worked as the Manager of Burwood Area Community Housing for 8 years. Jan then worked as a casual teacher in local primary schools. She has been working as a primary school teacher in Strathfield South Public School for 14 years. She was one of the founding members of the local Greens group. She is a volunteer for Wheelchair for Kids and has been involved in the local residents’ groups.

Sundar was born in Gibraltar to Indian parents. He is fluent in English and Spanish and understands Pakistani and Indian languages. He is married and has a son.

At a young age Sundar migrated to England where he was very active in the Labour Party. He graduated from University of London in Education in 1984. In his last employment in London he coordinated an advice service and managed a community centre in the London Borough of Brent.

In Australia, Sundar qualified as a teacher of English as a second language. He has worked in the community sector for many years. This has included co-ordination of youth activities and research in East Fairfield.  He has worked as a Tenant Advocate during the last 20 years.

Sundar has lived in Concord West for 27 years. He co-founded the local Greens group and has been involved in numerous community and environment committees. This has included the King Street Area Residents’ Group, the Management Committee of Burwood Community Welfare Centre, the Sustainability Committee of Canada Bay Council, the Multicultural Committee of the Greens NSW and the Community Consultative Committee.

Dr Adam Butler has been an active member of the Canada Bay Greens since joining the group in 2007 and has lived in Concord West since 2003.

Adam is an mechanical engineer with a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and is passionate about seeking practical, real and long term solutions to society’s problems. A major shortcoming is the lack of systems thinking in guiding local decision making. Systems thinking considers causes and effects and the relationships between action and consequence. Our local community is feeling the effects of unbridled, poorly considered over-development and in the long run we will all pay but especially our children.

Adam has been a candidate in past State and Federal elections and says politicians are taking us backwards. If elected to council he aims to do things differently and wishes to ensure a sustainable future for Canada Bay residents and their children.
